How does it work?
Semaglutide works by mimicking the action of a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) that naturally occurs in the body. When injected, Semaglutide binds to GLP-1 receptors in the pancreas, prompting the release of insulin in response to meals, which lowers blood sugar. It also reduces the amount of glucagon (a hormone that raises blood sugar) released by the pancreas, further aiding in blood sugar control. Beyond its effects on blood sugar, Semaglutide also slows down gastric emptying, leading to a prolonged feeling of fullness and reduced appetite.
